This is not only happening to people with political views that are different from the mainstream corporate narrative. It is also happening to my sex worker comrades who have pages on this site and in other places.
I have many creators who I follow and try to support and I have heard multiple stories recently about large accounts being deleted and/or restricted. From TikTok to Instagram, this is happening more and more. Rule violations are not being committed in these cases. And as we have seen more and more lately, it’s just arbitrary and up to corporate forces who gets to have a voice online. Even smaller creators on YouTube who aren’t even political, but are not backed by a corporation or doing in-video advertisements, have seen a sharp decline in numbers. In this dark era of censorship there seems to be a strong push to have only corporate-approved content allowed online.
I’m pretty sure the end goal is to remove all options from people except working a soulless corporate job that we hate, or censoring ourselves and shilling for them in our work. I’ve worked those jobs many times and I feel like I’m slowly dying inside each time I do it, so my heart goes out to those of you who are in that grind. ❤️
