Added 2024-05-06 02:14:22 +0000 UTCSurgery progress: 20 days post op today. Still can’t feel my face or lips or smile properly yet. And I still have to wear my elastics that keep me from opening my mouth too wide. I get to change them 3X a day, and have them off for an hour each time to eat and clean them. But that’s it then they have to go back on. Still on soft food NO CHEW diet, so I’m still drinking liquids through a syringe, and I’ve started using baby spoons for soft foods that I can swallow whole. I have no control over the muscles in my face yet, so it’s hard for me to be expressive still. It’s why I’ve been nervous to film a video to you guys because I truly can’t feel my face. And that will take anywhere from 10 months to 2 years to come back, I’m in the long haul now. Visually I look good though. I’m really dedicated to my post care and I think that’s what’s making such a difference. I know it’s probably hard for you to tell but I’m still pretty swollen around the upper and lower jaw area. I’m in good spirits though. Having my diet moved up made a huge difference in my energy and overall happiness. You have no idea what it’s like to be on straight liquids for 2 weeks, and trying to do day to day tasks. The first 2 weeks are the hardest though and now I’m in the long haul of healing.
